Is world peace even a possible goal? and what is war?
I have read a few answers regarding war and peace and to be honest I can’t fins a sure solution to escape war or maintain peace. Here are some scenarios about what people think the answer to peace is:
A lot of people say here if you want peace, turn to God. Well I tell you from my experience that praying to God is not enough, if it were I wouldn’t be here writing this question. God and you work in together, you work with His blessing. So you have to work for peace.
People say turn to love. But more often then people like to believe, war continues because of love. Because no one makes a soldier take up arms without a goal, and that goal is love, to protect his family, children, friends, he’d rather take a weapon in his hand and stain his hands in the blood of another and destroy other families for the sake of his. People who are hurt or loose family want to avenge them and go to war to kill others. So love is not the answer.
People turn to religion for help. But religion is belief and wars are fought on belief, on difference of belief in gods or prophecy or prophets. So religion is the fuel of war, as long as people believe what they are doing is right, then war will never stop.
Justice? Justice for what? Justice for who? There is never one justice, there is no black and white only different shades of gray. People go and fight for their justice, because they feel robbed, but what about the other side? What about their justice? What about they who want to fight for their justice?
Wealth? and easy life? We always know that power corrupts and money is power’s twin brother. If wealth is the key to peace then you might have peace in your state, but peace of life? Never, wealth and technological life makes people prideful, lustful, greedy, lazy, they completely loose themselves in their own laziness with complete disregard for all human life that is not like them. And what’s worse is that they’d fight and end the lives of a hundred others to protect that way of life.
Understanding, yes that is a good idea for obtaining world peace, but can a 30 year old man that lived a life without many hardships and all the resources available, understand a man that lived 30 years fighting to survive in harsh conditions with mostly essential resources for survival, and home-schooled with less then the basics? And vice-versa?
If I offended anyone I truly apologize, I am a realist, and I want to know if there’s any way we can ever obtain world peace(peacefully) and escape war considering all the scenarios above.
"men are at war with each other because man is at war with himself". cant remember who said it, but I think this is true. I don’t think war/conflict/crime will ever end because envy, jealousy, greed, and selfishness will always be a part of some people and motivate them to become violent. I guess all we can hope for is better police, army and leadership, that could make these issues shrink. I don’t think they will every go away.

Peace the only goal and it’s in every step.
Thinking that life is fighting, their environment or other people, is only a belief, not a reality.
Rethink your idea that the outside world make us who we are and you find greater ability to give which results in greater happiness.

I honestly do not believe that humans will be able to attain world peace for all of the reasons you mention above and more. People are essentially motivated by their own needs/desires/perspectives. Even generosity and sacrifice are often motivated by a desire to feel good about helping others - and not simple open-handedness. (that’s why fund-raisers use guilt)
If you watched the movie ‘Enemy at the Gates’ the young communist idealist claimed that communism was the answer to human happiness and order because he believed that by removing wealth, power, religion and other human motivators from our lives, humanity would finally be able to live at peace. At the end of the movie this same young man is arranging the tragic murder of a friend over the attentions of a girl. It is both interesting and sad to see his face as he realizes that human beings will always find something to fight over.
An end to war is only possible if every person submits to being changed from the inside out, not from the outside in. Only when all of our hearts are healed from selfishness will peace be possible. Is this possible - yes, a way has been made by God in Christ to do it, but most people wont take it.
