the bible and the killing of animals for food?
I hope this question doesent offend, as it is not written to do so. If god is love and tells humans not to kill, then surely the slaughter of animals for food, breeds evil within us. How can we he say do not kill on one hand but allows us to kill on another… just curious
yes i understand that god allows this practice, but how can u say dont kill a human but kill a animal. The bible says dont kill, this is contradictary
One of the many things on which I disagree with the Bible.
David, your arrogance is disgusting. In no way are you above animals. They’re not brainwashed dipshits like you.

i think to make your point, you should talk about all the slaughtering of humans in the bible, not animals. Clearly we are able to make a disctinction.

Or how about meat packers who use food to kill humans ala factory farms and feed lots .

That is pretty much the same thing as killing someone in a war.
There is a legitimate reason to it. If you were just killing animals for fun, then that’s wrong.
Besides, animals are below humans on the creation ladder.

The bible does not prohibit the killing of animals for food. In many places it speaks approvingly of the practice.

Animals are not people, and people are not animals. People are made in the image of God. Animals are not. People are infinitely higher than all animals. There is simply no comparison.
Jesus says to eat meat. The Bible makes it clear that eating meat is GOOD, and a gift from the Lord

I wonder the same thing
I do not think we should kill animals for food though,
and the way they raise/kill them its really awful!
"Animals are not people, and people are not animals. People are made in the image of God. Animals are not. People are infinitely higher than all animals. There is simply no comparison. "
person above me,
animals have feelings too!
and people have NO right to treat the animals the way they do and are in no way "higher" than all animals
hun, maybe you should do some research on how these animals are treated, and if that is "okay in the eyes of god"
then geesh! who would think that is okay?! look at the kinda god we believe in

Sweetie, we have to kill something to have food. I hope you are aware that plants, although they can’t move or make noise, are also living things.

There is no reference to man eating meat prior to the flood. Only afterwards did man which coincides with the severly depleted lifespan of people. As far as "killing" in the 10 commandments: Something most "Christians" are unaware of is that there are several words (5) of ancient Hebrew that meant "kill", the best English translation for the word referenced to the 10 commandments as it was originally written would be frist degree murder…still not a perfect translation, but I think you will get the idea.

No matter what you eat, animal or vegetable, something is going to have to die. That potato you ate was alive up until the moment you skinned it, sliced it and dropped it into hot oil to make french fries. Don’t believe me? Leave the potato alone and it will grow sprouts.
We are animals, therefore we kill to eat. Even some plants are carnivorous. Is the Venus Flytrap a muderer?
God wants us to eat. He also wants us to use common sense.

no offence taken, i do recall in the bible, where God says to nourish your body with all manner of plants, to keep a healthy body. in the bible the animals were used for sacrifices. but i don’t recall them being eaten afterwards. and yes, i believe that all the meat consumed in the world is a bad thing for human bodies.
i don’t know about breeding evil, but i do believe that there is a huge terror at the time of death for all of these animals slaughtered and we eat that terror with the meat and that terror is consumed by the world. possibly creating an alternate brain pattern in us that in turn creates bad decision making in us all. kinda like brainwashing in a personal sense. i guess.
i have these opinions about this but i still eat meat. go figure. i guess i just figure there is really nothing that can be done about diddly in this world anyway.
and to get to the point…God did make one of the commandments…DO NOT KILL.

What about the food chain? Birds eat insects. Many animals eat other animals, and they often don’t kill them first. The instruction not to kill is directed at people killing other people - for reasons of anger, jealousy etc. The Jews in bible times ate meat,. Jesus himself ate the passover lamb, and ate fish regularly.
You can be a vegetarian if this is too much for you, but even then there has been killing during the food production - even if the plant pests are not sprayed with chemicals the slugs, snails, greenfly, caterpillars etc will have been controlled in some way. You would not like to find caterpillars in your cauliflower.
It is not so much that our actions breed evil within us, but that evil within us prompts evil actions.
Would you put rat poison down if you had rats in the house? Would you spray flies or wasps in the house? I too hate killing any living creature but sometimes we have to do it.
Unless you want to be a Buddhist, but I’m not sure how they get round the problem.

Apes dont eat meat therefore we dont need to either, the bible is a fairy tale and i dont need a book to tell me if its right to eat meat or not.

In our FIRST STATE, we were Fruitarians. We ate from the fruit of trees.
After falling into our Sinful State, the very thing that should have been our enjoyment to keep and maintain has now become part of our dietary food intake. This is part of the sin curse.
Just as animals running around everyday killing and eating each other. This wasn’t the way it was in the Beginning however it will return back to it’s FIRST STATE of sheep sleeping with lions. The animals will be at peace and love with each other.
You have no idea how sin wrecked this place. Death is everywhere. Even now, it’s illegal for death to operate in this realm yet both death and satan refuse to obey CHRIST!
When the SONS and DAUGHTERS OF CHRIST Stand Up, then these two SHALL Obey and Respect the POWER OF GOD through HIS SON.
That is why death, hell, satan and his hordes as well as all those whom does satan’s bidding will be tossed into the LAKE OF FIRE for Eternity.
