Who misses the days when…?
…Disney wasn’t afraid to make things have a couple of scary moments, and things weren’t all sugar coated and syrupy? I mean, there are some older Disney films with quite DEEP, emotional moments and even some dark ones. Here are some examples:

1.) The Black Cauldron
2.) Cinderella
3.) Beauty and the Beast (although this is quite new)
4.) Peter Pan (gets quite sad)

I mean, as the years go by, Disney is getting more and more into the "follow your heart" theme, and "children are to do whatever is in their dreams, follow their hearts, lead their own lives, TOTAL freedom", and their princesses are ridiculously skinny.

I mean, in Cinderella II Dreams Come True (yeah, see what I mean?) they brought back Lucifer, because although it’s implied that he dies in the first Cinderella, no WAY can they bring that message across to the poor youngsters of today, can they? I mean, it’d scar them for life, right? *Sarcasm*!!!

Stuff like that just happens more and more with Disney. I may be being a sensitive donkey brain, but does anyone agree and think it’s silly? Everyone be polite, this is a DISNEY conversation! I’m not trying to get into a huge argument over it!
Yes! Mrs. Miley’s right! And no way would they put that in a modern Disney film. Too scary, oh no! And you know how in "Lady and the Tramp", Darling got a little annoyed with lady and smacked her lightly? Oh no WAY would they put that "brutality" in a Disney film nowadays. But they used all these bad things to prove points in these films!

so trueeeeeeee.
the whole "follow your heart" theme is totally gay!
the REAL disney movies with =the sad moments are so much better bc it teaches kids that things don’t always go as planned.
roflmao.

Political correctness is to blame.

Yeah, I always think it’s a shame that Disney films are more geared towards adults nowadays… at least the dialogue in them.

thank you thank you thank you for bringing this up!!! im tired of my sisters watching bleached blonde anorexics prance around scheming to get the man of their dreams. wheres the advenure? wheres the bad to make the good worth being good? disney sells out.

i miss the orginal pink panther cartoon and like johnny bravo or dextors labratory. good times. i dont think it refers to the question of disney but still :D m.my878 | Aug 11, 2008

Yeah, i totally agree. It does get kinda stupid putting ideas that everything is going to be that simple, cool, and problem-free when its not.
Darlin | Aug 11, 2008

i dont watch disney anymore but i did notice the same things you did. so yeah i agree. i also noticed whenever a disney character gets injured (scratched or somthing) the injuries completely disapear in the next scene. i noticed that on the movies like lilo and stitch.

No, you’re right. Disney should put messages in their movies and shows. If you use TV to teach things like patience, kindness, and acceptance. That would be a big step toward a better future. Kids imitate what they see on TV though, so if there was too much violence or death, it may not be a good thing.

Disney might make an 18( R rated) film on day………….

……………..Nah! I don’t think so either, just more predictable happy endings

I think that Disney along with all the other hippies out there are jumping on the "protect your children from everything, including themselves" bandwagon. Seriously, when we were younger we watched all sorts of shows and movies, played outside and ate with dirty hands and didn’t think twice about it. Nowadays though, everything is bad for children, and dangerous for children, and unhealthy for children. It drives me nuts!

It kind of irks me about their movies, but I am still a Disney fanatic! Love it… and now I’m going to have to watch Cinderella, because I don’t remember Lucifer dying, or appearing to have died… poor kitty :( you asked… i answered | Aug 11, 2008

well, Snow White had some crazy shit in it too.. lol

But you know.. i think someone should sue disney for making every little girl believe she’ll find her prince charming..
littlemiss_scrubtech | Aug 11, 2008

I agree totally. Back in the day(mine was the late 70’s early 80’s) Disney wasnt afraid to delve to some of their darker roots. Remeber when they made that warped sequal return to OZ? or hows about Ray Bradbury’s "Something Wicked this way Comes"….these were dark morality tales but they harbored on childhood innocents…..now everything is CGI with this "lets keep it real phase" and achieve whatever….give me a morality tale….make LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD CGI and see what happens!
michaeledwards21979 | Aug 11, 2008

I agree its messed up the way that they send the wrong message to children they should be more concerned on how this is reflecting on children

Russianbeauty<3 | Aug 11, 2008

They just make what kids this generation want. I do miss thegood old days.
Cat | Aug 11, 2008

yeah your absolutely right, when i was little i used to recite hese stories almost word for word, i loved te black couldron for how different it was! nowadaus i hatemost disney movies because theyre too sweet and poptartish !ha.
jacob black <3 | Aug 11, 2008

I agree, those films were much more realistic (as realistic as films about princes turning into beasts, and witches turning into dragons, can be) and true to life. I will, however, say that I liked Happy Feet. Wait, was that even a Disney film?
monstrouschicken | Aug 11, 2008

omg, how did you miss out bambi?!?! that movie represents the moment i lost my innocence….that scarred me for life. i still remember that shot, cracking out now….*sniff…
