River Wild, The (1994) IMDB rating: 6.10 Plot: Gail (Meryl Streep) is a professional at water rafting. She twigs every day, and she is in a very good shape. She takes her family, one day, to a rafting trip down the river, but she has no idea that the planed trip is about to become a nightmare. Two escaping robbers with a handgun, meet the family in the way, and join them to the trip. Only later the Gail realize that their new friends are dangerous criminals, but it’s too late. With number 20 I went with a song that I may glorify a bit because it segwayed into me discovering a record and a band that I would become incredibly excited about. It’s true that for most ears they probably have better tunes. This one is quick and simple, but it just hits so right with me. Man, the Sophtware Slump is just a ridiculous record. So good.

Oh yeah I liked this one a lot , the cool intro that made me dreamy , I thought it was going to go that way the whole song but then it kicks in with a heavy guitar sound ! Love that ! Again , new stuff I haven’t heard til now , so thanks !

I’m usually partial to the Who and David Bowie, my two favourites. But this is one of those rare occasions when somebody mentions the Monkees, the band that pretty much defined the essence of my childhood. So I’m going to have to go with Randy Scouse Git, which is a totally gnar song.

Can I release home raised ducks into the wild?
So I have a duck in my backyard, it lives with 5 chickens and we want to release her into the wild because we don’t have a pond (near our house is MANY lakes and rivers and MANY ducks) do you think she can survive in the wild? Thanks
I live in Melbourne, Australia, I don’t think the birds migrate here, because there are some wild ducks here I have seen that can not fly (like the peking). The one I have can’t fly either, its a similar breed to the peking.
I have another question: Can these guys live happy without a pond?

I’m sure she will fine as long as you don’t release her in the middle of winter. Spring would be a good time when there is plenty of food about. If she is a domestic duck she won’t have any migratory instinct and will stay where you put her.

Ducks don’t need a pond as such, even a big washing up bowl sunk into the ground for her to splash about in would do. She should lay you tasty eggs and I’m sure she has bonded with the hens (I kept ducks and hens together for years).

Its not ideal releasing domestic ducks into the wild as they mate with the wild ducks and this weakens the gene pool but lots of people do it, I’ve done it once or twice with drakes that we just couldn’t find homes for. Our local pond has a complete mixture of ducks of all colours so I’m sure lots of other people had the same idea.
