Grizzly bear foes blocked.

Bear activists were barred from entering the legislative buildiings in Victoria yesterday. Accompanied by Liberal enviromental critic murray coell, representatives of the people’s action for the threatened habitat (path) tried to present petitions with 15,000 signatures pretesting the grizzly bear hunt to environment minister Cathy McGregor. They werent allowed inside as staff insisted McGregor was not in the building. Despite failing to make her point with Mcgreor, PATH’S Evelyn Kirkaldy said the group will continue to fight the hunt, and another action is planned this month." We just hope to get the public more and m ore onside" she said. Although PATH wants a complete end to the grizzly hunt, the focus of its campaign is stopping the spring hunt. Because its so difficult to differentitate between male and female bears, hunters make shoot females, leaving cubs helpless and likely to starve. " Its’s really barbaric," said Kirkaldy. According to provinvial estimates, there are 10,000 to 13,000 grizzly bears in BC, but that figure has been disputed.

i agree with the complete banning of hunting grizzly bears because it is unethical to shoot down a living creature that has no opportunity to save itself, or their offspring. If this law is not even tried to be passed, it could be plausible to put the responsibility on environment minister Cathy McGregor for the epidemic of possible extinction.
