who hates MLB Free Agency?
It’s like come on already why does it take this long to sign players.
And next question, Im a Yankee fan but I just don’t like the way they treat their players n free agency. Hideki Matsui is the perfect Yankee besides Jeter, you can say he is Mr. International Yankee. And if the Yanks doesn’t sign him hope the Red Sox get him and he plays the best baseball he ever played.
I don’t. I think it is a good thing. But i agree with the second part. I’m a Yankee fan too and i can’t believe how they are treating their free agents. They should never do that to Matsui. He is a great player.
Kave Dast | Dec 03, 2009
Matsui is a good guy, and he had a helluva World Series, but I think he’s gone. I’d rather see them resign Johnny Damon. He could be d.h. and fill in playing the outfield.
yr2square | Dec 03, 2009
Players get old. Teams move on. Sometimes it’s graceful. Sometimes it’s not. It’s just the way it is.
18 gibbs 20 | Dec 03, 2009
Yeah, I’d rather they keep Matsui and let go of Damon. I mean Matsui did so much, forget the world series, he hits home runs when they are the most needed like that tying two-run home run against the Blue Jays. They can not let Matsui go. But free agency is not a bad thing in my opinion.
gluebottle | Dec 03, 2009
Remember what happened with Bernie Williams? Now THAT was a shame.
masternachos | Dec 03, 2009
I love that is how New York gets all their talent.
p.s. That is business big boy, it is a one and done kind of deal.
Yankee15 | Dec 03, 2009
Yeah, free agency in baseball is really lame, especially because only 5 teams have a reasonable chance of landing the best player available any given year, and we all know who they are. It’s also maddening that the players take so long to sign with teams. I understand that it is a business, but why wouldn’t teams aggressively pursue a good player that they could afford who would make a huge difference for their club? Okay, granted, they don’t want to give up draft picks, but most of the best players in the game today weren’t drafted in the first round anyway. Why not take a chance on somebody if you have the means to do it?
baseball_is_my_life | Dec 03, 2009
Who hates free agency when the YANKEES buy everyone on the freakin market!!!?? Yea.. that good.

What are the specifics of Judaism?
I am a Protestant teenager looking for information about Judaism. I realize that there are many variations and variations within variations, and I also realize that no one practices their religion the same. (For example, in my Presbyterian church, a good chunk of the congregation grew up Roman Catholic. Some still follow traditions such as Lent, others don’t.)
Please answer if you are Jewish yourself. I’ve done some poking online, and everything seems contradictory. What are the differences and similarities between Conservative and Orthodox, and are there any other denominations (and is that the right word?)? How do you dress when you attend you Synagogue, and how do you keep Kosher and the Sabbath? How many and which of the holidays do you observe, and how do you do so? If anyone has lived in or visited Israel, is it different there? Are the traditions you keep a matter of custom or of religious faith? How often do you pray, and is it a matter of memorized prayers or do you simply speak from your heart? Do you speak Hebrew? What about Yiddish? What are some words unique to Judaism? Is the way you practice Judaism affected by the area in which you live?
In summary, please give your opinion and fill in the blanks on this circumstance: A young girl is attending a non-religious boarding school. There she rooms with an atheist and is the only Jewish student in attendance. She is not extremely religious but wants to follow the traditions of her family as best she can. How would she do so? (I’m guessing that the easiest way to keep Kosher would be to follow a vegetarian diet, but beyond that I don’t have a clue.)
Answers to any of my questions are welcome; even answers that seem to contradict earlier replies. However, if you know why they contradict, that would be great.
Thank you for wading through that. (Aren’t you glad we’re not in person, and you didn’t have to get all of that at once?)
I realize that a face-to-face would be better, but there is a shortage of Jewish people in the area in which I live.
I also said that both the girl and her family are NOT extremely religious. She just wants to keep some of the traditions. What traditions would she be most likely to keep?
You are asking a very broad question — one which would be better answered in a face to face conversation (or series of conversations). You can check sites like www.whatjewsbelieve.org, www.jewfaq.org or www.chabad.org or www.askmoses.org among others. There are many branches of judaism and the way people within each branch answer will appear contradictory because the specific theological underpinnings of each branch. you should also check out a book called "how to be a perfect stranger" which can give you some quick information.
as to your scenario — if the girl was that religious, and her family was, she wouldn’t be in a non-religious boarding school. but if she was, she would need a vegan diet, she would need permission to light candles in her room, she would not attend classes on the sabbath or holidays, and would carve time for daily prayers, among other things.
rosends | Jan 23, 2010
As far as the differences between the denominations of Judaism, your best bet is just to google, read, and then ask specific questions. The same with the other questions. I will try to give you explanations, but you might want to ask additional questions.
I am a male. When I go to the synagogue on weekdays I usually wear s sport jacket and hat. On the Sabbath, I wear a suit, white shirt, tie, and hat.
I keep kosher and am Sabbath-observant. I find neither observance difficult. I live in Brooklyn, NY, and often shop at supermarkets that only sell kosher food. When I shop at other supermarkets, I limit my purchases to those that have national kosher certification. When it comes to the Sabbath, I finish my work activities on Friday with enough time to return home, shower, and finish preparations at least 30 minutes before sunset. I observe all of the holidays. You should read "To Be a Jew" if you want to understand Jewish holidays and rituals.
I pray daily. Most of the prayers have a fixed format, however, one is permitted to ad-lib during the main prayer. I speak both Hebrew and Yiddish. Words that are unique to Jews are usually of Hebrew or Yiddish origin, sometimes Aramaic. When I speak English to other Orthodox Jews, it is peppered with a large amount of non-English words, switching to Standard American English only when speaking to outsiders.
As per your theoretical young lady, her best bet is to go veggie. While the laws of kashrus might be a bit for her to tackle, she would be very close by avoiding all meat products and food cooked with any meat.

BB gun question- Does anyone know…?
Is it ok to hunt birds with my BB gun?
My Dad got me a very cool Airsoft BB gun for my Birthday last week andI love the gun a lot. My Dad said I should use the wild birds in our backyard for target practice. The problem is that my aim is off and I have only hit one yard bird and it was just a tiny baby bird. I took its eye out though. Well, in our apartment complex we have lots of people who keep their pet birds in cages that they leave out on their porch in the afternoon. Lately I have been shooting those birds because I can get right up to em and take them out one right after the other and it really improves my aim. My Dad thinks it’s funny. I feel bad though because some of these birds are very pretty. There was this one with blue and red feathers and stuff. Also, I have seen some people around the complex crying and I think it’s cause their birds were shot. But still, it’s just a dumb bird. Tomorrow my Dad said we are going to go hunt Mrs Stein’s African Grey Parrot which is a very pretty grey bird that says words and stuff. We took one out yesterday too and it was so funny because it said swear words when it was hit! . I feel sort of bad though. I like Mrs Stein, and I have already taken out like 7, or 8 of her smaller birds and got one of her cats too. But the cat didn’t die or nothing, it just walks sideways now. Do you guys know if it is against any rules, or laws?
No, What else is it for?
PrinceGster | May 28, 2009
Animal cruelty, i.e. shooting and wounding non-game animals with a rifle that isn’t mean to be lethal to anything, is quite illegal, as is shooting any non-game or non-pest animal.
If you’re serious, you and your father are both worthless assholes only good for target practice by men with real rifles.
Dmitri | May 29, 2009
whoa, deja vu- wasn’t this question (or very similar) posted before?
anyway it is ok to hunt birds wit h BB gun is no one objects. but airsoft guns are not a BB guns so you can’t use the airsoft gun. BB guns, pellet guns, are acceptable for shooting birds with, as are firearms and such.
I wish I had people like you guys living near me, if I did, there wouldn’t be mockingbird problem where I live because we would of shot them all. Too bad everyone where I live are a bunch of nature freaks and tree huggers who love the loud, irritating, screams of the mockingbird. If I was up to me I would of had the entire species exterminated.

 Futurama: Bender’s Game (2008)
IMDB rating: 7.40
Plot: At once a merciless skewering of all things fanboy and an extremely satisfying addition to the Futurama franchise, Bender’s Game is among the best of the animated series’ feature length adventures. The game in question is Dungeons and Dragons, and Bender wants in—only robots aren’t programmed with the necessary imagination. Naturally, Bender’s plans to develop one go completely awry and land him in an android asylum. The role-playing plotline later re-emerges—in typically convoluted Futurama fashion—via a subplot involving Professor Farnsworth’s conversion of dark matter into spaceship fuel, which created a key to a very D&D-influenced universe where our hapless heroes eventually find themselves. The alternate world storyline allows for much lampooning of fantasy tropes, with Lord of the Rings receiving the lion’s share of the tweaks. Seeing as how the writers have already devoted much of the movie’s running time to parodying Star Wars and Star Trek (and their Lego offshoots), one might think that Bender’s Game might suffer from pop-culture overload, but surprisingly, it all feels fresh and frequently funny, and the writers are wise to ground the story in their eccentric characters rather than pinballing them through an endless string of gags. The result is probably the strongest of the direct-to-DVD Futurama releases to date, and one that newcomers to the show’s cracked universe can appreciate as much as longtime fans.As with previous Futurama DVD releases, the extras come fast and furious on Bender’s Game: commentary by members of the cast and production team (including Matt Groening) is both informative and funny, while interviews with the writers and producers discuss, among other topics, the influence of Dungeons and Dragons on the series and the 3D models used in the feature. Aspiring animators might appreciate “How To Draw Futurama in 83 Easy Steps and the storyboard animatic for the first part of the story, while the “Genetics Lab” feature allows for some amusing Dr. Moreau-style cross-breeding of the characters. Recording session bloopers and a deleted scene offer their own laughs, but the most enjoyable extra must be the preview for the next Futurama feature, Into the Wild Green Yonder, which suggests a shocking development for one of the show’s regulars.

Futurama: Amy and Leela hook up?
In Benders Game, why does Amy and Leela hook up? i think its because Leela saved her but why they must kiss on lips is their something i missed in the movie it really makes me think can some one tell me the real reason they do it and why that the writers wanted them look as if they were lesbians * I dont have a promblem with just wonding *
Amy was getting it on with all the characters in Bender’s Game. Leela was probably just next on the list.
punkpixie0227 | Jan 09, 2009
I think the writers were just trying to create some kind of controversy maybe in doing that. Leela and Amy wouldn’t turn out to be lesbians, it too much of a drastic turn for the show.
